One of the hardest things for me to start a small business was getting the help I needed. In fact, finding good advice today is still a challenge for me. It’s tough to find people who have good common sense who are interested enough in your challenge to listen and thoughtfully respond. I’ve spoken before of the value of mentors or coaches. Sometimes they just aren’t available. That’s why I started this site.
Start a Small Business: Join a Community
Many small business owners naturally join organizations. There are many reasons. One is usually to network to create business. Another reason is to meet similar people and share challenges. There are a lot of great communities available. For those that have access to MeetUp groups in the area, consider joining one for entrepreneurs.
Start a Small Business: Connect with Others
The reason that I started this site is that sometimes online is the only option available. There is a lot of small business advice out there, but there are few that are shaping themselves to connect and engage directly with its’ readers. The ability to respond to blogs is one way to start a dialog for others to share their goals and challenges. It is also meant as a way for others to respond.
Start a Small Business: Ask for Help
If you’ve been reading my blog and weekly emails for some time, you’ve either been inspired already to get moving on your own business. In that case, you probably have a ton of questions. If you’ve haven’t been inspired, then I’ll work on my writing! In reality, if you haven’t motivated yourself to start toward achieving your goals, then it’s probably time to figure out what’s holding you back. In either case, this site is an opportunity to ask the other readers and me for help. Just post a response and let’s get a conversation going on how to start a small business that’s right for you.
